HHLA presents itself successfully at trade show

More than 60,000 visitors came to Munich this week for the biggest logistics trade show in the world, “transport logistic”. Among the 2,374 exhibitors was HHLA, whose stand in Hall B3 with its widely visible “Gateway to the future” attracted a great deal of attention. Thanks to modern virtual reality technology, visitors could delve into the world of HHLA and inform themselves about the company’s latest projects on a touch table. “Our HHLA stand is wonderful, modern and open. It’s a reflection of our innovation,” declared Chief Human Resources Officer Torben Seebold, who attended the leading biennial trade show for the first time.

Angela Titzrath, Chairwoman of HHLA’s Executive Board, observed that considerable progress has been made with the international focus of the show. “transport logistic is even more international this year. And it’s obvious that digitisation is no longer a marginal topic. Networking and collaborative approaches have arrived in the industry.” She also noted that the view of HHLA has changed over the past two years. “We are gaining a great deal of attention and support. There is great interest in taking part in HHLA projects or entering into discussions with us.”

Proof of this was the fact that the three meeting rooms at the HHLA stand were nearly always occupied. Titzrath and her three Executive Board colleagues, as well as sales representatives from HHLA and its subsidiaries in Germany and abroad, conducted intensive conversations with customers every day of the show. Peter Kiss, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Metrans Group, brought a 25-member-strong team of sales representatives and customer consultants to Munich. He summed up the experience: “transport logistic is a must for us. All the customers are here. I’m very pleased. My notepad is full of homework. And by the end of the show, my voice will be gone.”

Philip Sweens, the Managing Director responsible for international activities at HHLA, confirmed that the trade show visit was a great success for staff members of HHLA TK Estonia, the Container Terminal Odessa and HHLA Project Logistics who travelled from Estonia, Ukraine and Georgia to attend. The show’s increasing internationality is obvious not only at the HHLA stand. The proportion of international exhibitors increased by 3 percentage points to 56 percent compared with the last “transport logistic” in 2017. 64 exhibitors came from China alone – twice as many as last time.

The focus of topics has changed, Sales Director Thomas Lütje explains. “Sustainability is the main topic at this trade show. We at HHLA are well-positioned for this and can provide solutions. We’re a trendsetter.”
