Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center (HVCC)

The HVCC Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center is a unique joint venture between the two large container terminal operators in the Port of Hamburg, HHLA and Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg GmbH (CTH). As a central, neutral and industry-wide coordination point, the HVCC ensures mega-ship, feeder and inland vessel traffic runs smoothly for arrivals in the Port of Hamburg, routes around the port and departure after handling.

The HVCC offers coordination services to terminals and shipping companies. It also functions as the central communication interface between the Hamburg Vessel Traffic Service Centre and Elbe pilots – whether they are piloting a 20,000 TEU container ship, a 300,000 tonne bulker or a cruise ship, feeder or inland vessel. There are two departments at the HVCC: The Nautical Terminal Coordination (or NTC) takes care of mega-ship coordination, and the Feeder Logistics Center (or FLC) coordinates the feeder and inland vessels’ routes around the Port of Hamburg.
