First estonian harbour crane with dual power starts operations at HHLA TK Estonia's terminal

A new mobile harbour crane has started with dual power at HHLA TK Estonia's terminal in October. This investment will increase the speed and efficiency of bulk handling.

“The equipment proved its high quality and operational reliability at the first use. Two ships were already serviced and loaded with 30,000 tonnes of Estonian grain and pellets each,” says Riia Sillave, the CEO of HHLA TK Estonia. “Our new crane serves our customers faster and with plugging it onto the shore power grid, it is the next step in our sustainability path,” the CEO noted. As HHLA TK Estonia uses only certified renewable electricity, there are no greenhouse gas emissions when the crane is working in electric mode.

The Mantsinen Group from Finland delivered the “120 DER” crane, using innovative dual power technology. It has a total handling capacity of 620 tons of bulk cargo in an hour. Beside bulk handling attachment, variety of lifting equipments can be added easily.

HHLA TK Estonia is a part of the leading European logistics group Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) that operates container terminals in Hamburg, Odessa, Trieste and Muuga, as well as runs logistics interconnections and intermodal hubs in many regions of Central and Eastern Europe.
