The port is a place that reminds many Hamburgers of home and is a top destination for visitors. Make it a part of your home, too, and come work with us. Our port logistics specialists are as close as you can get. They’re in the thick of it – around the clock and whatever the weather. The tasks that our port logistics crews work on are varied and depend on what the business specialises in. Some port businesses specialise in storing and checking goods such as coffee, ore and oils. Others specialise in packing, transhipping and storing break bulk that can weigh more than 100 tonnes.
HHLA deals with seaport container logistics. The focus of the work is on loading and discharging (unloading) container mega-ships. Every conceivable load is sent safely and punctually on its way for our customers by ship, rail or road in accordance with international guidelines using accompanying documents. Physical work is just as much a part of the everyday work here as the skilled driving of a forklift truck or using IT-assisted goods control systems.
We offer a comprehensive and varied three-year apprenticeship. Based on the Vocational Training and Instruction Act we provide all practical experience and not just at one of Germany’s largest and most modern container terminals, but also in all other major port logistics fields. Together with a technical college, where you will receive theoretical instruction, we will help you successfully complete the proficiency examination at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.
