Terminal-related Specialists

Our terminal-based specialists ensure that everything runs smoothly in and around our terminals in the Port of Hamburg. They hold the technology on site ready for use, coordinate the arrival and departure of ships, or take on the inspection, repair and cleaning of containers. With their expertise, our specialists are a crucial part of the smooth running of logistics at our terminals.

Hamburger Container- und Chassis-Reparatur-Gesellschaft (HCCR)

Our Hamburg-based container and chassis repair company, HCCR, is an expert in providing services for containers. Its range of services includes classic depot services such as the inspection, repair and cleaning of containers. HCCR manufactures special steel constructions and advises on the implementation of special customer requests. Trading in steel boxes of all kinds is also part of the range of services.

As one of the largest providers of reefer services in the Port of Hamburg, HCCR has particular expertise in the maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning technology in refrigerated containers (reefers), buildings, handling equipment and motor vehicles. HCCR is an authorised dealer in refrigeration units and spare parts from the manufacturers Carrier, Thermo King, Daikin and Star Cool. More than 200 reefer spaces are available for periodic temperature-indicator inspections (PTI). HCCR also operates its own tank cleaning facility for road tanks and tank containers, which it also repairs.

Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center (HVCC)

The Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center (HVCC) is a globally unique joint venture between two major container terminal operators: us and Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg GmbH (CTH). As a central, neutral and inter-company coordination centre, the HVCC ensures smooth mega-ship, feeder and inland waterway vessel traffic in the Port of Hamburg, during rotation in the port and when ships leave after processing. Every year, well over 200 of the largest mega container ships, around 1,800 feeder ships and 5,200 inland waterway ships, as well as 100 bulk carriers with a large draught and more than 80 cruise ships, come to Hamburg.

The Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center provides its coordination services to terminals and shipowners. At the same time, it acts as a central communication interface with the Vessel Traffic Service Centre Hamburg and the Elbe pilots. The Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center consists of two departments: While the Nautical Terminal Coordination (NTC) department takes care of coordinating mega-ships, the Feeder Logistics Center (FLC) coordinates the round trips of feeder and inland waterway ships in the Port of Hamburg.

HHLA Floating Cranes

Our two HHLA floating cranes take care of project and heavy-lift cargoes, and not only in the Port of Hamburg, where the floating cranes are available everywhere in the shortest possible time. The floating cranes are also used on the entire Lower Elbe as far as Brunsbüttel when the size or weight of the objects to be loaded is such that they cannot be handled by container gantry cranes or other onshore equipment. The cranes can lift loads of 100 or 200 tonnes individually and also transport them on the water.
