Labour agreements are part of our tradition and are highly valued. The wages, working hours and other employment conditions for approximately 90 percent of our employees are governed by collective bargaining agreements. Our various tariff systems lay down conditions for leisure time, holidays, additional payments etc. at a significantly higher level than stipulated by legal regulations.
Our modern payment systems with variable remuneration components which reward personal commitment and performance have also proven successful. Further comprehensive additional benefits, such as a subsidised canteen, commuter passes with the local transport agency (the HVV ProfiTicket) or the possibility to lease work bicycles round off the attractive offer.
We start training today to have the expertise of tomorrow. We offer our employees the possibility to expand their skills and contribute to the shaping of their careers through customised staff development and qualification measures for specialists and senior executives. In doing so, we introduce modern topics such as agile project management methods and cutting-edge specialist knowledge via selected internal and external instructors and institutes.
At the centre of our industrial training and education is our HHLA technical college, where the specialised skill sets of our staff in throughput are systematically expanded through high-quality training.
Different life stages require adjusted working hours. Our various working models provide leeway for individual life planning and foster the flexibility of our staff members. We provide staff members in all departments and at all levels who are expecting a child with a comprehensive individual consultation and promote a flexible return from parental leave.
The health of our employees is important to us. In concert with other institutions, we actively look after the physical and psychological health of our staff through systematic company health management and stringent occupational safety requirements. Our company doctors, internal social counselling, cooperation with advisory offices, systematic company staff integration management, in-house sport and fitness offers and regular campaign days actively develop the resources of our staff members and support them during crises and emergencies. And not only physical fitness but internal networking and friendships can be maintained in over twenty company sports groups ranging from badminton and golf to diving and yoga.
We want to make sure that our staff members are also well taken care of in retirement. This is where the HHLA capital plan, an important supplementary component to statutory pensions, comes into play. The flexible pension plan system allows employees to finance their early retirement. They may either have their capital employed paid out to them or exchange it for a lifelong retirement pension.
The interests rates for the HHLA capital plan are significantly higher than the average level – that is guaranteed. Employees can inform themselves about the benefits they are already entitled to at any point in time on the HHLA pension portal and may annually adjust these to their current needs.
