Dr. Stefan Behn to Step Down from the HHLA Executive Board at the End of March 2017

Dr. Stefan Behn, Executive Board Member of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), today informed the Supervisory Board that he will be making use of the option in his employment contract to leave the company upon turning 60 on 31 March 2017. Dr. Behn has been a member of the Executive Board of HHLA since 1996 and is responsible for the Container business and Information Systems.

The Supervisory Board accepts Dr. Behn’s decision with deep regret, but also with understanding for his actions. Decisions regarding succession arrangements will be drawn up shortly by the Supervisory Board.

The HHLA Supervisory Board would today like to thank Dr. Behn for everything he has accomplished for the company and for the Port of Hamburg. The construction of the Container Terminal Altenwerder in particular – a ground-breaking concept for the container industry on a global scale – will forever have his name associated with it. He was closely involved in the expansion concept for the Container Terminal Burchardkai and the establishment of Hamburg’s cruise business as well as countless other projects.

Dr. Behn has been at HHLA since 1985. His first roles were as a business consultant and then Director of German Consulting Operations at the HHLA subsidiary HPC Hamburg Port Consulting, finally graduating to Director of Controlling at the holding company. Dr. Behn has been a member of the Executive Board since 1996 and has held this position for more than 20 years.
