HPC expands its digital competence with new Managing Director Jan Bovermann

Jan Bovermann, Head of Digital Corporate Development at Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), was appointed Managing Director of HPC Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH as of 1 October 2018. He will lead the fully-owned subsidiary of HHLA with Dr Felix Kasiske. Kasiske continues to be responsible for HPC’s core business of port and transportation consultancy, while Bovermann will strengthen the expansion of the company’s digital competence. The new HPC Managing Director will continue to act as the Head of Digital Corporate Development at HHLA.

“Jan Bovermann is significantly involved in the development of HHLA’s digitisation strategy. Under his leadership, a number of forward-looking projects, collaborations and partnerships have been set in motion,” says Angela Titzrath, Chairwoman of HHLA’s Executive Board and Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of HPC. “His digital expertise and his many years of experience in consultancy will strengthen the future-orientated alignment of Hamburg Port Consulting. The customers will benefit from this.”

HPC has been active in the area of maritime and intermodal transportation consultancy for over 40 years and, with its 100 employees, now acts as one of the world’s leading full-service providers in this sector. It offers services such as the planning, conception and opening of seaport and intermodal logistics facilities, port management, feasibility, efficiency and financial analyses, privatisation, engineering services and IT solutions.

The transport and logistics industry is changing at a fundamental level due to digital development, which is constantly accelerating. As a result, HHLA wants to anchor its digitisation expertise even more firmly in HPC’s consultancy activities. “My aim is to establish HPC as a digital think tank for the supply chain,” explains Bovermann.

The 49-year-old has been responsible for the digital corporate strategy at HHLA since 1 August 2017. He previously worked globally for international consultancy companies advising transportation companies, and was a Managing Director in the area of logistics. Bovermann has a master’s degree in economics and law.
