METRANS launches Czech Republic’s largest fleet of Volvo electric trucks

METRANS and Volvo Trucks have introduced the first-ever deployment of six electric trucks in the Czech Republic. This is the largest fleet of electric vehicles of this type in the country and a significant step for METRANS toward sustainable logistics.

The new electric trucks will primarily be used for last-mile and first-mile deliveries in urban and suburban transport, where reducing noise and emissions is particularly important. By integrating these vehicles into its operations, METRANS aims to lower its carbon footprint and contribute to cleaner air in densely populated areas.

Peter Kiss, CEO of METRANS: „Electric trucks are an important investment in our future. They represent not only cutting-edge technology, but also our strong commitment to customers and society as a whole. We want to demonstrate that business and ecology can go hand in hand.“

METRANS has a long-standing focus on developing environmentally friendly solutions in transport and logistics. Electric trucks complement existing initiatives in rail transport and multimodal logistics, which enable the transfer of as much freight as possible from road to rail – towards a more sustainable future for transport in Europe.

John Muldoon, Director of Volvo Group Czech Republic: „Volvo Trucks greatly appreciates being a partner to METRANS on the road to a sustainable future in transport and logistics. The Volvo FH Electric is a powerful, zero-emission truck that meets the demands of today's modern logistics without compromise.“

METRANS is thus also contributing to the HHLA Group's overall sustainability goal of achieving climate-neutral production by 2040.
