Good perspectives for the hydrogen project H2LoAD

The Hamburg Hydrogen Network (Wasserstoffverbund Hamburg) has passed the first important test to be recognised by the EU as an “Important Project of Common European Interest” (IPCEI) and receive special funding. Georg Böttner, hydrogen coordinator at HHLA, points out that over 200 outline proposals were submitted. “The competition was fierce and full of ideas, but we still made it. As part of the Hamburg Hydrogen Network, our H2LoAD hydrogen project has advanced to the next round.”

For Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, hydrogen technology is an important building block towards achieving climate neutrality by 2040. For its IPCEI proposal, HHLA joined forces with major German and European manufacturers of handling equipment and commercial vehicles, among others. Together, they will develop fuel cells to power handling equipment and heavy-load road vehicles, and they will deploy them in pilot projects.
