Tollerort begins running new N4 terminal software

Over the Easter weekend, HHLA installed the N4 terminal software at the Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT) in Hamburg.

The introduction of N4 is part of the company’s “Fit4Future” programme, a series of measures that will enable HHLA to react even faster to the challenges and opportunities of the market going forward.

CTT is the first of HHLA’s three container terminals in Hamburg to begin using a single piece of standardised base software that can support almost all of its business processes. The Fit4Future team worked together with the staff at the Tollerort terminal over a number of weeks to carry out preparations and testing in advance of the N4 launch. Following the conversion, feeder ship and rail processing began as planned at 7 a.m. on Easter Monday. The first large ship, the 14,000 TEU freighter CSCL Mars was processed using N4 on Monday evening, with truck processing following on Tuesday morning.

Thomas Schütz, the overall project manager, was happy with the N4 launch: “HHLA managed to achieve a largely problem-free conversion to N4 at CTT. This globally recognised standard software makes it easier for our customers to use HHLA services, and also harmonises our process and IT landscape considerably.”
