New Space for Creative People

HHLA Immobilien is creating workshops for artists in Hamburg’s UNESCO World Heritage Speicherstadt.

In the Speicherstadt historical warehouse district, new spaces are being developed for artists and creative businesses to use. Warehouse M28 has a prime location in the centre of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and will house studios, workshops and workrooms for creative people. As the owner of the Speicherstadt historical warehouse district, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) is redeveloping a total of 5,300 square metres across eight floors. HHLA Immobilien is in charge of carefully renovating the warehouse and implementing the creative concept. The spaces will be available from November 2017, after the current renovation work is complete.

Klaus Hadaschik, Managing Director of HHLA Immobilien: “The best way to protect the landmarked buildings of the Speicherstadt historical warehouse district in the long term is to actively use their 300,000 square metres of space. We are working with great enthusiasm and creativity to further develop this unique district so that it is preserved for future generations. The new tenants are an ideal fit for our concept of diversity.”

Creative people from a range of fields of work can apply now to become tenants at Am Sandtorkai 27/28. The spaces are being advertised by Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, government cultural agencies and Ateliers für die Kunst (AfdK).
