HHLA opens the “Gateway to the future” ITS World Congress in Hamburg

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) will present numerous innovative projects at the ITS World Congress taking place in Hamburg from 11 to 15 October 2021. The company will present the digital logistics solutions with which it reinforces its claim to being the gateway to the future.

The ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) World Congress is the largest and most prestigious event in the world dealing with intelligent mobility and the digitalisation of transportation. HHLA is exhibiting as part of the joint “Gateway Hamburg” stand in hall B4 (ground floor, stand 230

Angela Titzrath, Chairwoman of HHLA’s Executive Board: “Hamburg is one of the most innovative major cities in Europe when it comes to future-proof logistics and mobility. HHLA is making an important contribution to this. We have been a start-up for 137 years and have influenced numerous technical developments in the area of port handling, such as the first largely automated handling facility for containers. As a leading European logistics company, we are currently an important driver in the development of digital solutions for the future of mobility. We look forward to offering the visitors of the ITS Congress insight into our work.”

HHLA is represented at the ITS World Congress through the following projects:

Hyperport Cargo Solutions: HHLA and US company Hyperloop TT are working together on a technology to transport containers through a tube using magnetic levitation.

HHLA Sky Control Center: The fully developed product enables the complete management and processing of globally scalable drone services.

FRESH: The research project examines how the battery capacities of the automated guid-ed container transport vehicles (AGVs) can be integrated into the German energy network as flexible storage units and contribute to the grid stability of the power supply.

Artificial intelligence that stacks containers: Self-learning software “agents” will in future support the control systems at HHLA terminals to assign containers to the ideal storage space.

COOKIE: Artificial intelligence to help check containers for damage in order to more quickly regain access to empty containers. This research project is an important contribution to “just-in-time” logistics in the maritime industry.

HHLA will also provide information on its hydrogen initiative. The “Hamburg TruckPilot” pro-ject, developed jointly by HHLA and MAN, will be used to test the automation solutions for road transport and will be on display at the MAN stand in exhibition hall B2.

HHLA’s subsidiaries modility and Bionic Productions will also be present at the Congress with their forward-looking products. Visitors can experience HHLA’s sustainable logistics in operation during the “Logistics Experience” bus tour through the port.
